These shorts are extremely comfortable, and the legs do not ride up. They're perfect for wearing under dresses/skirts to avoid "chub rub" or as around the house or pajama shorts. However, there is NO compression and no control-top effect! They do have a minor smoothing effect under clothes, but it is very very minor.
